Code of Conduct
Welcome to the Hack the Waste 2026 Hackathon! This hackathon brings together innovators and experts to collaborate on diverse solutions. As you embark on this journey of creativity and innovation, we have prepared guidelines to ensure a smooth and productive experience for all participants.
Code of Conduct
🌍Crosscultural cooperation
- One of the main elements of this 24-hour hackathon is international cooperation and an opportunity to develop your intercultural competencies. Please, respect your teammates
- Keep in mind you are not from the same cultural background, so have an open mind and appreciate cultural differences. Observe and reflect
⛓️Interdisciplinarity
- In your team, there are students from different backgrounds: IT (Gaming, Internet of Things), Business, Marketing, Risk Management, Engineering … The hackathon itself requires an interdisciplinary approach, so take this opportunity to learn from each other. Take your time to explain to your teammates why you are doing something, and be prepared to broaden your own horizons, learning from new fields
🤝 Teamwork
- Even though you are from different study programmes and fields, you have to work together throughout the whole process. You each represent an important part of the team and can contribute valuably to the final deliverable. You all have to know your goal at all times, and if something changes during the development of the idea, all team members must understand why it changed and what consequences it entails. Manage your innovations with dedication
- The flow of information among team members must be constant. The better the flow, the better the result. It doesn’t make any sense to develop a mobile app that isn't feasible because it doesn't focus on a proper target group, does it?
- Keep in mind, we are all working online, so this is a challenge in itself. Assign one member to constantly ensure communication is ongoing and to post updates within and beyond your team. Agree on breaks, don’t just disappear
⏲️Timeline
- Keep in mind that this is a 24-hour activity, and be present during the whole time. Keep your video connection open. Sure, there will be some opportunities to take a break, re-energise, and relax, but keep your breaks short and communicate with your team members about them. Will you have enough coffee to get you through the night?
🙌Positive approach
- This hackathon is being organised by a group of people passionate about education, so we are doing our best to ensure that you have a positive experience. Please, join the hackathon with a positive and open mind, have fun and help each other when motivation gets low
- “A little smile goes a long way, but you must first start it on its journey. “ H. Keller
Let’s have a safe and respectful hackathon and create something truly extraordinary! 🚀
